GENERAL RULES

Find answers to common questions about our fishery and fishing experiences.

1. The fishery opens at 8:30am daily, no fishing is permitted before that time. Fisheries close at dusk.

2. Fly fishing only is permitted, single fly, maximum size 10 longshank. Hooks can be barbless.

3. All fishing is to be conducted from the bank, no wading permitted.

4. No catch and release is permitted.

5. All anglers must sign in upon arrival at each fishery hut and sign out when making a return.

6. All anglers must purchase membership, either by the day or the season, then an appropriate number of fish tokens for the day.

7. IMPORTANT. POST YOUR RETURNS! Accurate returns are essential if the fish are to be restocked. For each fish caught, please post the appropriate number of fish tokens in the returns box, including catch details. You only need to deposit one token for each fish caught at Powdermill Lake.

8. Fish tokens are non-transferable

9. Members are guaranteed the number of fish purchased (not their weight) providing they are caught before 1st April 2026 (first day of the next fishing season). If the fish are not to be taken on the day of membership the member may return to the fisheries on any day they are open before 1st April 2026 providing he/she has membership for the day of fishing.

10. Fish tokens may also be redeemed at the fishery lodge GU5 9BJ for a frozen fish, or by arrangement, a fresh fish from Little Ford Trout Farm during the last week of March.

11. Day and season membership entitles the holder access and right to fish at any one of the Albury Estate Fisheries - Vale End, Weston, Powdermill. Please note Powdermill is for season rod holders only.

12. Payment for Day or Season Rod Membership at Albury Estate Fisheries Ltd implies that a member accepts and agrees to abide by the rules of the fisheries. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Any angler found to be breaking or bending the rules, exceeding their permitted catch, returning fish once removed from the water or abusing membership in anyway can expect to be expelled from the fisheries forfeiting membership and any monies paid.

13. Season Rods may bring an angler new to the fisheries as their guest, paying their day membership fee.

14. With permission an angler may bring one non-fishing visitor to the fishery. The angler is responsible for ensuring that his or her companion remains either in the car park or close to him or her, and that the companion does not cause any nuisance on inconvenience to other anglers.

15. No responsibility is taken for any disaster that may happen to the water or the trout whereby fishing is rendered impossible.

16. Fisherman and visitors enter upon Albury Estate Fisheries Ltd. Fisheries entirely at their own risk. No liability attaches to the owners for any damage, injury or loss of property, however caused.

17. Under the Salmon & Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975 it is an offence to fish for trout without an Environment Agency National Rod Licence (Maximum Penalty £2,500). These are available from Post Offices or via the Environment Agency’s website.

18. Anybody, without exception, caught discarding litter (especially fishing line which causes damage to wildlife), will be asked to leave. Please take your litter home.

19. All anglers are recommended to wear a lifejacket when around water.
Please Note. All fishing an access will be the responsibility of Albury Estate Fisheries Ltd (VAT No 644 732 629) who will make a separate charge for membership, this charge will be inclusive of VAT. Albury Estate Fisheries Partnership (VAT No 425 1982 49) will sell the fish. The fish remain the property of the partnership until taken, although payment in advance gives an entitlement to the angler in acceptance with the rules which are clearly displayed on the fishery.
